Lynn Knudsen, BA, CJEA
Artist, Teacher and Coach
At the age of 10 Lynn began her dance training which later led to a job in summer stock at the Dallas State Fair Musicals where she earned her Actor’s Equity status. Arriving in New York, she studied acting, scene study and improvisation with David Le Grant formerly with The Actor’s Studio.
Lynn landed her first role in the off Broadway revival of Gershwin’s “Oh Kay”. Not long after that Peter Gennaro, choreographer, cast her in “Unsinkable Molly Brown” at the Winter Garden Theartre.
Lynn enjoyed a fulfilling career in New York City adding other Broadway shows to her credit including “Mr. President” with Nanette Fabray and Robert Ryan, “Bajour” with Chita Rivera and “Sweet Charity” with Gwen Verdon directed by Bob Fosse. Lynn left performing in NYC and moved West, where she married and raised a family. But she explains, “once the showbiz bug has bitten, the excitement of musical theatre has a way of luring you back to the stage”.
Eventually, Lynn returned to the stage for “Cabaret”, “Music Man” and a tribute to the MGM Musicals, where she revisited the songs and dances that inspired her as a child. Lynn now resides in Capitola, CA and is a Teacher of Expressive Arts. In this she combines her well rounded experience in the arts and teaching skills to inspire young and adult students to actualize their own talents through Expressive Arts.
